Our expectations:

The Human Resources Intern is responsible for all areas of functional Human Resources support including talent development, compensation analysis, succession planning, employee relations and training programs just to name a few. The Human Resources Intern will assume responsibility for several components of both project based and ad-hoc tasks. The Human Resources Intern will contribute to a large team of Human Resources professionals spread across Ontario, Quebec and Poland. If you are a professional able to work in both in a strong team environment and independently and possess a thorough knowledge of Human Resources principles, with a strong desire to learn, develop and apply new skills, we invite you to apply.

What your day to day will look like:

  • Support HR Business Partners on successful execution of major Human Resources calendar activities including succession planning and talent reviews, merit & general wage Increases, manpower and resource planning, talent development including early talent identification and identifying gaps in leadership development and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

  • Support HR Business Partners on topics concerning employee relations initiatives including investigations, employee satisfaction surveys, health and safety and wellness campaigns, communication and employee recognition events.

  • First point of contact for employee and management inquiries and resolving where appropriate while escalating issues to internal parties as necessary.

  • Act as resource for all level of employees (management, salaried, and hourly) by responding to recruitment, benefits administration and HR policies and procedures.

  • General HR administration including processing ad-hoc reports, maintaining employee records, policies, procedures and processes.

  • Participate in recruitment and hiring process including conducting new employee orientation and administration including liaising with other key presenters.

  • Lead and organize internal coop networking program which provides a platform to integrate students with the organization to understand how various departments function.

  • Assist with Process Improvement initiatives including optimization and standardization of key HR Processes such as Succession Planning, Recruitment, and Merit.

  • Assist in developing appropriate HR Assistant training plans including delivering training to new HR Intern (in August, 2024) during an overlapping training period.

  • Assist in implementation and application of corporate policy, programs and initiatives.

  • Organization and maintenance of HR department procedures including standard work instructions.

  • Update and maintain accurate employee information.

What you need to be successful:

Must haves:

  • Be eligible to work in Canada

  • Be enrolled in a Canadian university throughout your internship

  • Be able to work on-site in the province where you are hired if applicable

  • Pursuing a post secondary education in Human Resources, and/or, all Human Resources related fields.

  • Excellent communication skills in English (spoken/written). French language is an asset.

Assets:

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism, maturity and confidentiality when handling employee related concerns and information

  • Advanced computer skills in MS office – Excel/PowerPoint/Word/Outlook/SharePoint. Special focus on Excel proficiency (V-Look up’s, conditional formatting, graph population, advanced formatting techniques and ability to manipulate large amounts of data).

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of professionals from entry level to executive.

  • Adaptability including time management of multiple tasks with varying degrees of importance and deadlines.

  • Effective oral and written communication – bilingualism is an asset.

  • Forward thinking with an ability to work independently with minimal supervision as a resilient and proactive team player.

  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Learning agility, strategic and innovative thinking skills.

  • Experience with SAP and Workday is an asset.

  • Attention to detail.

Work Environment

What my role type is:

Hybrid – 3 days on site with flexibility to perform more if required.

Note that Wednesday’s are mandatory on site.
