Statement of the Job:

The University of Maine Forest Bioproducts Research Institute is hiring part-time, temporary staff to assist in the operation of a continuous chemical pilot plant as needed. The work requires 13 hour shifts for either day or night operations of the plant.

Paid training is provided, and 13 hour-per-day campaigns will be scheduled from Monday to Friday. Campaigns will be for the next six to 12 months and run intermittently. Position being filled is Plant Operator. Typical hiring range for these positions is $23.00 - $30.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Qualifications:

A strong mechanical aptitude is preferred, and the ability to work as a team to ensure continuous operations of a chemical plant is required. Prior experience working in a chemical or manufacturing process is preferred.

Plant Operator: The Plant operator will assist with the safe operation of the Biomass to Bioproducts Pilot Plant. They will carry out the materials flow from the loading of feed stock through to the storage of final product. They will operate machinery within their training and understanding and assist with acquiring samples and completion of logs. They shall possess competent level of hands on mechanical ability.
