State of Utah - Jobs Bookmobile Librarian/Driver in PANGUITCH, Utah

Title: Bookmobile Librarian/Driver Status: Part time,with benefits. This position may become eligible for full time status,dependent upon need and funding. If you say yes to all of the above and want to work with us as part of a dynamic team of passionate information services professionals,please keep reading!   The Utah Department of Cultural & Community Engagement,State Library Division is currently hiring a Bookmobile Librarian for the Multi County Bookmobile. The ideal candidate will provide mobile library services (drive bookmobile,take books and other media,provide research and reference assistance,technology and digital literacy education,library programming,community outreach,library marketing and promotion,etc.) to rural communities in Garfield and Kane Counties,including schools,businesses,community centers,and special events. * * This position reports to the Bookmobile Supervisor and works closely in partnership with the Headquarters Librarian at the bookmobile headquarters,located at the Panguitch City Library,the Panguitch City Library staff,fellow bookmobile program team members,Utah State Library support staff,community partners,and county government to determine when,where,and what to bring on our bookmobiles that will be meaningful to our patrons and increase overall usage of our services.   Principle Duties The Bookmobile Librarian will perform the following duties:

  • Drive the Bookmobile in a rural setting.
  • Maintain an accurate route schedule utilizing effective time management skills.
  • Maintain a 40-foot school bus style vehicle with a diesel engine and generator in operable condition.
  • Assist in managing bookmobile social media accounts.
  • Perform library reference work.
  • Provide a variety of library services to the general public.
  • Provide technology and digital media literacy education to the general public.
  • Perform a variety of data entry processes across various databases and online platforms.
  • Community and stakeholder outreach,events,and activities promoting bookmobile collection and information services.
  • Daily loading and unloading of books and other materials from Bookmobile in order to keep the transported collection current.
  • Library circulation,and inter-library loan processes.
  • Complete professional development and continuing education keeping current on industry standards.
  • Work closely with the state library staff on the collection development of the bookmobile library.
  • Work closely with Headquarters Librarian on bookmobile and headquarters collection maintenance,including regular weeding.
  • Develop new ideas and contribute to library improvements and outreach efforts.
  • Handle special projects as assigned by the supervisor.
  •  **The work schedule for this position will require some evenings and may require some weekends. The schedule will be finalized after training is completed.

Ideal Candidate

  • Has work experience driving large vehicles.
  • Has a Class B commercial drivers license.
  • Professional experience working in a public or school library.
  • Can work independently.
  • Deals with people in a manner that shows sensitivity,tact,and professionalism.
  • Has experience using word processing,spreadsheet programs,and library management software.
