Job Overview:

The APTIM Federal Services, LLC team is seeking a Field Chemist to support an existing project team at our Hunters Point Naval Shipyard Project in San Francisco, California along with other projects in and out of the Bay area. This position will support a variety of Field and Office/Remote Chemistry-related tasks on all phases of project activities. Environmental Laboratory experience is desired, but not a requirement.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Planning and oversight and/or completion of on-site sample collection and packaging and shipping of samples

  • Coordinating with subcontract laboratories

  • Interpretation/evaluation and validation of chemical data

  • Assist in the development of plans, including selection of sampling and analyses methods

  • Data tracking and evaluations against project criteria

  • Preparation of procedures and reports related to sample/data collection and results

  • Communication of data and comparison to decision-limits to project teams, including client and/or regulator entities, ensuring conformance to applicable technical standards as well as company policies and procedures

  • Participation in project planning and execution should results indicate additional action is required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to work individually as well as cooperatively and be an important member of a remediation field team

  • Ability to prioritize assignments and work independently with minimal guidance

  • May act as a resource for colleagues with less experience

  • Monitor and control costs within own work. Solve moderately complex problems; take a new perspective on existing solutions

  • Manage own time to meet agreed targets

  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and on sites where hazards are present and PPE is required

  • Able to lift up to 40lbs

  • Possess ability to explain difficult issues, develop and plan solutions, and work to establish consensus

  • Promote teamwork; coaches and guides others.

  • Possess a BS Degree in Chemistry or other Environmental/Physical Science discipline

  • Typically has 4-10 years relevant experience, with experience in environmental investigation/remediation sampling and analysis a plus.
