BlackRock Associate , Business Manager, APAC Fixed Income COO Team in Singapore, Singapore

About this role

Job Purpose/Background:

We are searching for an Associate to provide project and business management support on both

investment and non-investment related activities to the APAC Fixed Income investment teams.

Reporting to the APAC Fixed Income COO, based in Singapore, the successful candidate will support investment operations, implementation of new technology, new product development initiatives, investment governance & effective controls, management reporting, and day to day business BAU support.

This position is a multi-faced role which requires interaction with many key stakeholders and partners, including Investment senior management, Product Strategy, HR, Finance, Operations, Tax, Technology and Legal & Compliance and external vendors. The successful candidate will have strong relationship management and technical skills, a demonstrated record of results delivery, and intellectual curiosity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management & Business Management: Provide project management and business management support to APAC fixed income investment teams

  • Operationally support across fixed income platform including operational assessment for business, compliance related controls, governance, management reporting or any adhoc tasks coming out from the business and operating environment.

  • Operational Efficiency and Risk Management: Help identify and manage operational risks. Enhance the wider operational environment across investment and operational processes through identification of process gaps and improvements. Review and update operational procedures, assess and implement controls to ensure the appropriate governance system is in place

  • Embracing AI and Technology for Enhancing process and user experience : Collaborate with internal business partners to identify and facilitate technology enhancements which address the evolving needs of the global business. Lead and drive for improvement by using AI and technology.

  • Regulatory Management : ensure all legal and compliance concerns are addressed and implemented across the division. Remain abreast of new regulation, continually seeking opportunities to ensure the robustness of our operating environment.

  • Data and Management Insight : develop world-class executive-level MIS reporting utilising a wide variety of data: financial, competitor, flows, market/industry, performance, strategic plans etc. Take ownership of the business reporting requirements.

  • Talent & Culture: assist the Business Management Team in finding creative ways to develop talent, increase communication and promote a strong culture across the Investments platform.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years’ experience in financial services, operations or business management; knowledge of Fixed Income (rates, credit, derivatives) considered a plus. Interest in financial markets. Strong academic background, relevant postgraduate qualifications (e.g. CFA, MBA) considered a plus

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, both conceptual and analytical; knowledge of at least one coding language (e.g. Python) considered a plus; strong communication skills and extremely high attention to detail.

  • Self-reliant, self-starter, ambitious and proactive; able to show initiative, be innovative and operate credibly with senior stakeholders across multiple markets.

  • A real team player who can cope with a truly fast pace with tight deadlines and multiple demands. Ability to prioritize, working to tight deadlines and flexible to meet workload.

  • A collaborative team player, confident to work with people of all levels.

  • Demonstrated strong organizational, planning, time management and project management skills, with experience contributing to large, high impact, cross-functional initiatives. Ability to function effective with a fast-paced environment and multi-task

  • Strong process awareness and ability to recognize and address operational risk issues. Experience in business process analysis, design and implementation.

  • Demonstrated experience working both independently and within a highly collaborative team environment

  • Creative problem solver with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to deliver presentations, coordinate across the firm, and work with team members in all offices across the world

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; presents ideas in a clear, concise and constructive manner

  • Keen to question, challenge and improve. A methodical thinker able to resolve complex issues daily

  • Highly innovative with a commercial outlook – always looking for ways to improve and enhance delivery, exuding an entrepreneurial “can-do” attitude

  • Must be fluent in English; other Asian language skills considered a plus
