Heidelberg Materials is seeking an HMA Plant Operator for our Skaneateles facility located in Skaneateles, NY.

Are you looking for a long term position with a stable company? Do you enjoy working with your hands and with automation systems? Heidelberg Materials is seeking a qualified HMA Plant Operator for its Hot Mix Asphalt operation. This position is responsible for meeting daily production schedules at our Hot Mix Asphalt plant. Additionally, incumbents may at times be required to operate plant equipment such as dump trucks and skid steers while also performing clerical work and other peripheral duties as required. The ability to work at multiple locations is a must for this position.

• Ensures compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, and with company policies and procedures.

• Meet daily production goals by understanding and performing all aspects of plant operations.

• Perform general plant maintenance and repairs.

• Conduct routine plant maintenance including greasing, checking oil levels, and shoveling under conveyors and spillage areas.

• Operate equipment including skid loaders, plant truck.

• Communicate current job information with contractors and drivers.

• Maintain plant files/records and cash flow.

What We Are Looking For

• Basic computer skills.

• Solid mechanical skills to perform general maintenance.

• Ability to operate plant equipment.

• General knowledge of hot mix asphalt business and operation.

• Demonstrated customer service skills

• Strong communication skills.

• Willing to work overtime, Saturdays and night shift.

• Ability to learn basic welding and torch operation.

• Physical Requirements: sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, bending (bending at the waist, lifting above the waist and lifting below the waist), kneeling, reaching, grasping (use of both hands), squatting, repetitive motions, manipulative finger movements with both hands, use of wrists (flexing or rotating with both wrists), use of both feet, use of arms above and below shoulder, work extended periods of time in same position, perform duties in all climates i.e. weather, extreme temperatures, tolerate heights, lift and carry up to 75 lbs., work in confined spaces, capable of wearing respiratory and other personal protective equipment.
